I was very privileged to be part of the Melbourne Business School’s Murra Indigenous Business Program this year.
MURRA is named after the word for “fish net” in the Woi Wurrung language of the Wurundjeri people of Melbourne.
I was amongst small business owners, entrepreneurs and professionals, wanting to develop their business knowledge and confidence selected for the residential program.
Indigenous businesses are not just a source of wealth for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, but also a source of pride, fostering social and economic empowerment.
This year the latest Indigenous business Snapshot shows Indigenous businesses contribute more than $16 billion to the Australian economy, employ 116,795 people, and pay $4.2 billion in wages.
